About Deliberations on The Life Divine: Volume XIII (Book II Part II: Chapters XXIII & XXIV)

Continuing his series of transcribed talks on The Life Divine, the author arrives at the first two of the last six chapters of the book. The Mother gave considerable importance to these final six chapters because they reveal Sri Aurobindo’s vision of the future. They were not written originally for the Arya, but were added in 1939 and 1940. “Man and Evolution” posits the idea that the complete evolution of consciousness in Matter is the central, driving motive behind terrestrial existence, and, as such, man as he is cannot be the last term; he is a transitional being in the evolution. In “The Evolution of the Spiritual Man” he discusses, among many other aspects of the subject, Sri Aurobindo’s answers to the important dual questions on the nature of the transition from the mental to the spiritual being and the process and method of the evolution of the spiritual out of the mental man.
